2-Faerie analysis!?
After the last blog a number of people expressed interest in my designing process so I'll try to continue that throughout the progression of this piece. And if doing so raises more interest in the finished card.....good.
The original intention to quickly do a Christmas card with a simple coloured sketch has evolved into something a bit bigger as I've been granted permission to use Marchella's designs.
So the next stage was to analyse the Faeries & Imps that I'd chosen to use in the piece and turn them into a 'cartoon' form to be painted onto glass.
The term 'cartoon' is used by real stained glass artists for an image that contains only the neccessary lines to be used in the glass piece. All other details are unfortunately discarded. I will be painting onto glass so I can use a bit more detail but the principles are the same. By doing this I will have essentially created lots of separate areas or 'baths' for fill with different colours.
There will be 10 faeries & Imps used in the piece. Here they are:

All of these beautiful figurines were designed by Marchella of Gossamer Glen. Visit her sites for a closer look at her work.

The next stage will be to put these 'cartoons' back into their places in the main image, refine everything, and begin transferring the image onto glass...(without going mad).
